Ear Ache And Crackling... ?

For 4 days now my ear has been aching. it's just been getting worse and yesterday it was the worst. but for 2 days it has started crackling when i swallow. The aching has stopped today but is crackling more than ever. I was on holiday last week , on a plane and i have been in a pool a lot.
