Old man threatning us for leaving my dog in our car! Was he correct?

Well in any situation if you don't plan to take the dog IN with you then perhaps you need to stop taking the dog everywhere, it's just as well keeping at the house as in a car. I don't know California law but I don't see why it would be illegal if the dog isn't in danger.
